We have selected three Horse Industry Experts to judge the Innovation Award who have extensive knowledge in their fields.

Sue McKay

Sue McKay, Education Manager for EQUITANA Melbourne 2018, is looking forward to being a member of the panel judging the innovation awards for Horse/Rider.  Sue has been involved in running horse events for many years and has competed in a number of disciplines.  She considers horse welfare and rider safety to be priorities and education the key to ensuring we do the best for our horses, whether in competition or turned out in the paddock.

Deena Peters

My love of horses and everything equine started at a very young age.  Born into a non horsey family, I quickly converted my Mum and Dad into being super supportive non horsey parents! I started attending pony club from a young age and rode at both state and national level in various disciplines.  I decided to specialise in dressage and enjoyed the journey of training from a young horse to FEI.

I am now married with 2 horse mad children who started their equestrian journey on the standard non cantering Shetland!  We have travelled Australia with their horses and ponies competing in Interschool and Pony Club nationals.  We have had great success in the CDI pony classes. The kids have grown and so too have their horses, we are now up to competing in the open sections.

Being involved with the Equitana team brings great excitement.  Their professionalism and enthusiasm is to be admired.  The traders at Equitana are amazing, coming up with ideas to make our lives easier, our horses happier and our sport more enjoyable.  I can not wait to see what products are available and what new ideas have come to light.

Large Exhibition Display Judge David Webster

I have been involved in EQUITANA for over 7 years as member of the operations/build team. As a retired international athlete (rowing) I love how EQUITANA has developed a competition for the exhibitors to show off their companies and products. I am now a commercial manager at DE/GTR Events working with exhibitors and sponsors similar to the ones attending EQUITANA. I am looking forward to seeing what the best equine companies in Australia can deliver at EQUITANA 2018. With it being a long two years since EQUITANA was last in Melbourne I can’t wait to see what ingenuity, creativity and customer engagement strategies the exhibitors at EQUITANA have come up with since 2016.
